Education Bill

HMGOG has published a new Bill which once enacted will amend the Education and Training Act to reflect current teaching practices and duties, including a duty to promote environmental education. The Commissioner for Sustainable Development and Future Generations, Prof. Daniella Tilbury, an expert in learning for sustainability, provided advice to the Minister and informing the drafting of this Bill.

If passed, the Act would establish new disciplinary procedures and requirements and changes the membership criteria for Education Council. The Act also updates, terms and definitions and sets a minimum number of secondary schools for Gibraltar. It creates powers to make regulations for the purposes of taking registrations, setting of in-service training days and implementing education related conventions, treaties and agreements.
