Entries that document a campaign or series of actions that have driven, inspired or led people’s involvement/concern on a particular  sustainability issue.

Open to all - individuals; groups, and organisations.

Public Service for Sustainability
Entries that document changing policy and practice in the public sector.

Open to government depts, authorities and agencies.

Food for Sustainability
Entries that document how sustainable catering policies and practices have been adopted.

Open to catering professionals and food businesses (incl restaurants, bistros, cafes, pubs) as well as organisations that procure catering on a regular basis.

Regional Impact for Sustainability
Entities that have shown regional collaboration to address sustainability issues or to improve the practice of sustainability across borders and neighbouring countries.

Open to all: individuals, groups or organsiations.

Sustainability in Business
Entries that document the adoption and/or promotion of sustainability into the core of a commercial enterprise or business organisation.

Open to all business organisations and corporate entities as well as associations, charities and groups that are business facing.

Education for Sustainability
Entries that document the embedding of teaching and learning for sustainability in education.

Open to all working in education to include: teachers; librarians; support staff; pupils.

Sustainable Events
Entries that document the adoption of sustainable events policies and practices.

Open to groups, businesses as well as organisations that are responsible for organising events.

Gibraltar’s 2020 Young Champion for Sustainability
Entries document how this Young Champion has made a difference in favour of sustainability in Gibraltar. The Champion led, or significantly supported, changes that have resulted in sustainability engagement and/or impact locally, regionally or internationally.

The award is only open to individuals under the age of 25.

Sustainability in Sport and Leisure
Entries that document how sustainability has been embedded in sport or leisure activities and reflected it in their planning and practice.

Open to groups, teams, clubs, associations, businesses and organisations involved in sport and/or leisure.

Planning, Design or Construction for Sustainability
Entries that demonstrate how sustainability has been a guiding principle in planning, design or construction of a development or refurbishment initiative.

Open to individuals, groups and organisations involved in planning, design or capital development. Partnership submissions (e.g. planners, developers and construction companies) are welcome.

Sustainable Technology
Entries that document the adoption of sustainable technologies or document how sustainability issues have been addressed within, or through, technology.

Open to all: individuals, groups and organisations.

Minister’s Future Generations Award
Entries document how a group of young people have made a difference locally and or regionally in sustainability.

Open to a group of young people between the ages of 5-25. This may include groups of school children, scouts or girl guides; youth or faith groups; choirs or dance groups, sports teams, and any volunteer groups that meet the age limit.

How to engage with the 2020 Sustainability Awards

1. Enter the awards

Read the information to applicants, download the form and submit your efforts or initiative before the midday on the 18th August. Entries must be submitted via email to ocsd@gibraltar.gov.gi.

2. Watch the shortlisted candidates

The finalists will produce brief video clips which will be made available here. View and share the videos so that we can celebrate the good work taking place on the Rock and beyond.  

3. Connect with the sustainability conversation

Throughout the year, the Office of the Commissioner for Sustainable Development and Future Generations, will be seeking to share examples of best practice, keep you informed of innovations and development in sustainability and engage you discussing key ideas for a better future.
